"Learning by Doing"

Hi all,

Pleased to announce a new initiative for Garage members who are keen to
step into infosec world and want to learn the basics in a practical way.
It is often seen that practical live demos enable more learning value
than text and video tuts.

Important Note : No live sites or networks will be touched during these sessions. No illegal work

has to be done during the session. We will use only vulnerable images,
self made challenges or online CTF contests(in that case they may have
their own rules) only.

Any failure to comply with the above rules will automatically lead to
ban of participant from further activities. Discretion of presenter will
be final

How this will work -->

1. Every session will have a presenter who will be presenting on a
particular topic. There can be a group of presenters also. ( If you want
to take up a session too then we will be more than happy to arrange the
rest. All you have to do is reply on this thread or catch us on IRC)

2. Every presenter can come up with his/her own idea as to how is he
going to conduct the hands on session and communicate with audience.
Some ideas can be --
a) IRC chat on the official #g4h channel on Freenode
b) Webcast through online free services (e.g. Free Web Conferencing Software, Free Online Meetings, Free Webinar Service Providers (http://www.anymeeting.com/))
c) Using GNU Webcam Studio to broadcast on Ustream
d) Team Viewer.
e) GNU Screen Setup via ssh

3. Always, our IRC will serve as the back channel at all times. So we suggest you to be online on IRC chat too.

4. Updates about these sessions can be found from our Twitter (https://twitter.com/#!/garage4hackers) and Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Garage4Hackers/) page also.
