    Go aka Golang - Next generation programming language from Google

    Hi Guys,

    Probably you are already aware of this, for those who are not aware of it. Go popularly known as Golang is a new programming language from Google.
    Development started around 2007 and the project was outsourced in 2009. IMO this would be the language to watch out for in the coming decade.
    Why you would ask ? We'll lets put it in the words of Golang's founders which also includes creator of Unix as well. Most languages that we use today
    were designed when computers were in their infancy. To handle todays multi-core, highly networked, concurrent system a new language was needed.
    Following are some of the links that might get you started. Thanks.

    Primary code samples on the golang.org seem like C + Python mixture.
    Well I am still reading in details to try to understand if it is better than python. Also try to understand why should people shift to this instead of python / perl / etc cgi languages. Still didnt get the answer though.

    ====================================

    One of the reasons is speed, python/perl are interpreted languages hence slow. Golang is compiled to a binary, hence speed is one of the factors why people from python/ruby background are moving to Go.
    Also a lot of syntax has been picked up from python/ruby for ease of use
